#1 Good Foundation, Poor Application
Your foundation may be the best, but if you’re a novice at applying it, even the best products can look caked on, or worse, leave a mark at your jaw line.
For starters, use a skin-toned concealer to cover blemishes and other imperfections. Then, apply your foundation of choice sparingly, using a slightly moist foundation brush. Start at the center of your face and blend outwards.
Some women like to use foundation that is a bit darker than their natural skin tone to add some color to their complexions. You know who you are. This is what blush and bronzer are for so please, opt for a foundation that matches your face. If not for us, do it for you neck’s sake.

I went through a comical stage with my brows just after college. Apparently, I thought that the skinnier they were, the smaller my thighs would look. And while my pencil-thin brows are painful to recall, thankfully I didn’t add insult to injury by drawing new brows in with a too dark pencil. Yes, I’m talking to you.
If you can see your brow line at all, you are guilty of making mistake #2. The goal is to keep it natural; opting for a brow powder or brow mascara can help. I like Valerie Beverly Hills’ Brow Palette ($35) and Brow Tamer, a clear brow gel that adds shape and control without color ($25).
